McKenzie LOVES her rocking horse (great gift aunt Brook) and now she has discovered the cowboy hat...a MUST HAVE accessory when riding your horse! Here are some pics of her proving that cowgirls DO have all the fun!

Mommy and Daddy Goofed
A couple of weeks ago, while I was at work Chris cut McKenzie's hair! I was extremely mad and I'm still not completely over it, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been...so I am thankful. A few days after the haircut, while I was fixing my hair McKenzie pulled my curling iron off onto her arm. We both cried, but she got over it a lot sooner than I did! Her arm looks tons better now and she is no longer allowed in the bathroom while I fix my hair.

Gulf Shores 2008
We were in Gulf Shores, AL the week that Hurricane Ike made landfall. We had a great trip! The weather was beautiful...very windy, but sunny and not too hot! McKenzie absolutely LOVED her first beach experience, which means we will be making this trip again next year and I can't wait!
Chris was so excited about being at the beach!

McKenzie at Julia's Birthday Swim Party
Swimming in the Jungle Pool
It was SO HOT the other day that we filled up the jungle pool and invited Angelica (the little girl from across the street) to come over and cool off. Even daddy couldn't resist the cool waters of the jungle pool!

Welcoming baby Brewer to the family
Julie had a scheduled c-section on June 29 in Mountain Home. She had to be at the hospital by 5:30 a.m. so they got a bunch of hotel rooms and McKenzie and I came up the night before to hang out with all of the family! We got up really early and rushed to the hospital because Jessi had left her camera at the hotel. We made it in time to visit with Julie before they took her to the OR. McKenzie wasn't too sure what to make of her new cousin, but she sure wanted to get her hands on him or maybe she was trying to poke his eyes out...who knows!

Celebrating the 4th of July
We celebrated the 4th at Jason Taylor's house (he lives on the bluff and therefore had an awesome view of the fireworks) with lots of friends. McKenzie didn't really know what to think about the fireworks. She wasn't scared of them, but she wasn't really all that excited about them either.

My First Float Trip
We floated the Buffalo River this past week with Chris's family and McKenzie had a great time! She LOVED the water and wanted to have some part of her body in it at all times...which means that while we were trying to canoe, she was leaning over the side of the canoe trying to put her hands in the water!

Birthday Girl
If you weren't at Future Fuel Park yesterday afternoon, then you missed the biggest birthday bash of the year! We celebrated McKenzie's 1st birthday yesterday with lots of family and friends. I now know that it IS true... you can NEVER be too prepared! We'd been planning this party for over a month and bought about 95% of the needed supplies well in advance. I thought we had it all figured out and that the morning of the party would go smoothly. I felt like it was until I realized we were still at the house at 11:50 (the party was supposed to start at 12) and we hadn't decorated the pavilion or started cooking the hot dogs! There were guests that actually beat us to the park! In the haste to get the party started there were a few things that were forgotten...like the fruit tray that Chris had driven to Searcy to pick up that morning and the banner we had special ordered for all the guests to sign so that McKenzie could later see all the people who had helped celebrate her 1st birthday, but all in all it was a great day! We had good food and the company of many great friends. Thanks to everyone who came out and/or helped with the party. I'll post some pics of the birthday girl soon.

It's only taking me a year...
I've decided to start a blog to keep everyone up to date on any and all of McKenzie's latest accomplishments/developments. We are in the process of planning her 1st birthday bash! I can hardly believe that it has been a year already. I will post some of my favorite pics from her 1st year soon.
